Is it a rescue or a kidnapping?

Emma was hiding from a botched home invasion in Edmonton and was pulled through a portal to another world. Her would-be abductors explain that they are Grigor, warriors who can turn into a lion, wings optional. They claim she was Summoned as she’s a woman of the Light and her skills are sorely needed to fight against the Shadow Masters.

Emma goes from living a simple life in Edmonton to training in a castle where tasks are performed with the power of the Light. She navigates her new reality with the help of Keitar. He is the heir, and women have always pursued him for his position, not bothering to get to know the man. He hopes an out-worlder will see him.

He helps Emma find her way in this deceptively primitive world, but doesn’t make any advances. The cultural rules are explicit: women must make the first move. Emma is frustrated until the rules are explained; then all bets are off. Once their union is consummated, Keitar gains additional powers, but they need to be constantly replenished.
